The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

تملُّكات: محمَّد بيك أبو الذهب؛1188 هـ.#وقْفيّات: محمَّد بيك، بِجامِعِه.#كُتِبَ عَلى هوامِشِها اختِلافُ رِواياتِ البُخاريّ.#قُوبِلَتْ على نُسْخَةٍ أخرى دَلَّتْ عليها فُرُوقُ النُّسَخِ التي بِالهامِشِ.#جاءَ عَلى هامِشِ الورقةِ [71/أ] قيدُ سَماعٍ ما نصُّه: «بلَغَ سَماعًا عَليَّ الجَماعةُ: أَبو العزْمِ عَبدُ الرَّحمنِ بنُ الحسَن الحنَفيّ الجبَرتي، وعُثمانُ بنُ سالمٍ الورْدانيّ، وعليُّ بنُ سعدٍ البسوسيّ، وصحَّ وثبَتَ بِقِراءَتي في يوْمِ الأرْبِعاءِ لاثْنَتَي عشْرة بقِينَ مِن رَبيعٍ الثّاني سنةَ 1190 بِبولاق عَلى شاطِئِ النّيلِ، وأجَزْتُ لَهم رِوايةَ ما سمعوه مِن لفْظي. وكتَبَ أَبو الفَيضِ مُحمَّدُ بنُ محمَّد المُرْتَضَى الحُسَيْني عفا اللهُ عنْه».
