The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

Chapter on the Battle of Conquest in Ramadan. Abdullah bin Yusuf told me... He said: Ubayd Allah bin Abdullah bin Utbah told me that Ibn Abbas told him: “The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, launched the Battle of Conquest in Ramadan”... Chapter: {And sever your ties of kinship}... The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “And recite, if you wish: {And will you be pleased} with Surat Al-Fath. End of Part Seven.
