Notes
The purpose of this article is to try to explain the effect of journalism professional ethics on trust through the New York Times newspaper. In the research conducted with qualitative research method, New York Times was examined as a case study. Semi-structured interview method was adopted as a data collection tool and remote one-on-one interviews were conducted with 19 journalists, each from a different country. The interviews were handled according to the descriptive and content analysis method. Within the scope of the research: It was determined that news sites focused more on revenue models, public awareness of trust increased, journalists' awareness of ethical issues increased, and news centers began to be transformed towards digitalization. Due to these factors, it is expected that the future of internet journalism will not be as problematic as it has been in the last 10 years. It was determined that the participants emphasized the importance of "reliable content" rather than "impartial publishing". It was concluded that the New York Times successfully coordinated the internet and traditional publishing, used all tools effectively to reach readers on the internet, and did not resort to deceptive headlines. It is also aimed that this research will contribute to finding ways to combat ethical problems experienced in the transition from traditional press to digital.
