Notes
Mahdiism emerged in line with the political and cultural tendencies of societies; It is a phenomenon that has subsequently become a belief through dreams, discovery and interpretation. Mahdiism is better understood when examined with its political, cultural and religious dimensions, and it appears as a political phenomenon with a socio-cultural structure rather than a religious issue. The Mahdi belief is not included in the early Kalam sources. It seems unreasonable to make the Ummah dependent on the Mahdism of only one segment, one group or one person, with the spirit of transference, from the guidance of the Quran, which will remain valid until the end of time. This article focuses on the religious, cultural and social background of the Mahdi belief. Those who reject the idea of Mahdi are discussed together with those who accept it.
