Notlar	It is a historical fact that there have been criminals in all societies and they have been punished in different ways. Imprisonment is an old penalty, and prisons as places where prisoners are placed go back to old times. Imprisonment places being as old as human history continue to exist until now and are important. Prison culture exists in Eastern and Western culture and continues to exist. In this article we handle the history of imprisonment in the Western and Eastern world, its change, its present situation, and how these societies influence each other concerning the places of imprisonment.
