Notes
The first Abdülazîz ed-Debbâğ (d. 1132/1720) is a commentator who attributes symbolic meanings to the verses of the Quran. Ahmed b. Mübârek (d. 1156/1743) included it in detail in his work called el-İbrîz. The author emphasizes that his sheikh is illiterate (ummi) and claims that all the sciences he possesses were formed through discovery and inspiration. In his eyes, his sheikh is a miraculous person in every aspect, and in this respect he differs from other Sufi masters. In our study, ed-Debbağ's understanding of tafsir and interpretation method will be discussed within the framework of the work called el-İbriz. It has been tried to be revealed through his views on some verses and subjects that he approached the Holy Quran from a completely esoteric perspective and that he differed from many schools of Sufism in ishari tafsir by adopting an extreme interpretation approach in this direction. Abdülazîz ed-Debbâğ and Ahmed b. Mubarak's method of tafsir of the Quran appears to be a problematic situation since it is entirely based on esoteric understanding. For this reason, the study is naturally focused on Ahmed b. rather than Debbâğ's miracles. It is limited to analyzes and evaluations regarding the meaning and interpretation style he attributes to the verses through Mubarak.
