He was a member of the wealthy waMandiri cland and he restored the Mandiri Mosque, one of the most prominent Mosque in Mombasa. At the time of the letter Taylor was back in East Africa for his third and final tour (Yahya & Frankl, 1994). An invitation to Taylor to attend a karamu ‘feast’ followed by matezo ‘entertainment’ at the hst’s kiungani ‘orchard’ called Dar-es-Salaam. ( en )
