Her father was Jordanian and a member of the army and her mother was Palestinian. She studied interior design at university and then worked in that area for a time. Then she moved to the world of media, working as a TV producer and then as a journalist. She has used the media as a platform to raise awareness of children's rights. As a Jordanian woman married to an Iraqi man, having 2 children, the issue of a woman’s right to pass on her nationality to her children is an important issue for her. She was one of the co-founders of the ‘My Nationality is a Right for My Family coalition’, which lobbies the government to grant women married to foreigners the right to pass on their nationality to their children. In 2007, she ran for parliament, unsuccessfully. At the time of the interview, she was studying for a Masters degree in Human Rights and Human Development at Jordan University. ( en )
