Tarih [n.d.]
Notlar The so called "Shetima Kawo Qur'an" was in the possession of Shetima Kawo of Maiduguri (Shetima is an honorary traditional Kanuri title given to a learned Islamic scholar), and the manuscript was shown to A.H.D. Bivar in February-March 1959 by the owner in Maiduguri, North-East Nigeria. The pages of 2ShK contain very many Arabic glosses taken from twelve different tafsirs (commentary on the Qur'an) written in the margins and interlineally, together with a significant number of interlinear glosses in Old Kanembu. The manuscript layout, characterised by wide margins and generously spaced lines, may indicate that the main text – the Qur’an – was written with the view of allowing room for annotation. The glosses in Old Kanembu are often written upside down which reflects their use in teaching, placed between teacher and the student. All these characteristics suggest that this type of manuscripts had an educational function, and were applied to the studying and teaching of the Qur’an. The family who possessed the MS.2ShK believe the manuscript have been lost., Creative Commons (CC)-Lizenzen: Namensnennung-NichtKommerziell-Weitergabe unter gleichen Bedingungen 4.0 international (CC BY-NC-SA).
