Notlar	Fouad al-Khatib (d. 1376 AH-1957 AD) is a poet who is considered one of the pioneers of modern Arabic poetry, and a scholar of Arabic literature. he dedicated his literary work writing about the most prominent political events that took place in his life. he lived through the Ottoman era, witnessed the events of the Arab revolution, worked with the nobles who ruled the Hijaz, Syria and Jordan, and concluded his life as the ambassador of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Kabul. his poetry is, at its peak, shows solid style, full of emotion, rich in structures, bright in preamble, and he has immortalized many of the events of his time. his first collection of books was printed during his lifetime in the year 1328 AH- 1910 AD-then his son Riyad reprinted his first and second collections after his death in the year 1378 AH 1959 AD ; reciting poems by the great poets of his generation. his collection was devoid of some poems, which i found while searching in old newspapers and magazines and some books. they reached twelve poems and ten pieces. i also included four poems that were mentioned in the collection, but with different narrations. among the most important poems is the lamentation for the former king of Hejaz, al-Hussein Bin Ali, which the poet considered his best poetry, and it reached seventy-two lines. يعد الشاعر فؤاد الخطيب (ت 1376 ه-1957 م) رائدا من رواد الشعر العربي الحديث، و علما من أعلام الأدب العربي، شارك بأدبه في أبرز الأحداث التي جرت في سني حياته. و عاش أحوالا سياسية مختلفة. فعاصر العهد العثماني، و عاش أحداث الثورة العربية، و عمل مع الأشراف الذين حكموا الحجاز و سورية و الأردن، و ختم حياته سفيرا للملكة العربية السعودية في كابل. و شعره يعد في الذروة، متين الأسلوب، مشبوب العاطفة، جزل التراكيب، ناصع الديباجة، خلد كثيرا من أحداث عصره في شعره. و قد طبع ديوانه الأول في حياته سنة (1328 ه-1910 م) -ثم أعاد ابنه رياض طبع ديوانه الأول و الثاني سنة ( 1378 ه-1959 م). مقرظا بقصائد لكبار شعراء جيله، و خلا ديوانه من بعض القصائد، التي عثرت عليها في أثناء بحثي في الصحف و المجلات القديمة و بعض الكتب، و قد بلغت اثنتي عشرة قصيدة، و عشر مقطوعات، كما أوردت أربع قصائد، ذكرت في الديوان، و لكني عثرت عليها بروايات مختلفة. و من أهم تلك القصائد قصيدته في رثاء ملك الحجاز السابق الحسين بن علي، التي عدها الشاعر أفضل شعره، و بلغت اثنين و سبعين بيتا.
