Notlar A fragment of a medical text. A note on the first flyleaf (f. i-r) attributes authorship to one Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad Ibn Ṣāʾigh Ḥanafī (أحمد بن محمد بن صائغ حنفي), and the text makes reference to the authority of the 'Chief Shaykh' (الشيخ الرئيس, i.e., Ibn Sīnā [ابن سينا, d. 1037]), also invoking the teachings of Greek physicians such as Dioscorides (دسقوريدوس, ca 40- ca 90, f. 9v, line 13) and Yuḥannā Ibn Sarapion (يحنا بن سرافيون, fl. 9th century, f. 12v, line 14). Later physicians and their works are also mentioned, such as ʿAlī ibn al-ʿAbbās al-Majūsī (علي بن العباس المجوسي, fl. second half of 10th century, cited as صاحب الكامل after his major work Kāmil al-ṣināʿah al-ṭibbīyah [كامل الصناعة الطبية], see f. 12v, lines 1 and 9). The copy opens in the middle of the third section (فصل) of the first treatise (مقالة), originally comprising twelve chapters (باب, ff. 1r-26v), and includes the whole of the short second treatise entitled 'On pastes, digestives, and other compound medicaments which ease ailments body part by body part, according to the words of the Chief Shaykh' (المقالة الثانية في ذكر المعاجين والجوارﺸﻨات وغيرها من الأدوية المركبة التي تصلح الأمراض في عضو عضو من كلام الشيخ الرئيس, ff. 27r-31r). The copy ends abruptly shortly after the beginning of the third treatise, 'On compound drugs' (المقالة الثالثة في المركبات, ff. 31r-32v) which, the author states, comprises an introduction (مقدمة) and twenty chapters. Ends (f. 32v, lines 5-8): ...
