Notes A treatise on the use of the astrolabe Ancient instrument for astronomical observations. by the Andalusian astronomer and mathematician Abū al-Qāsim Aṣbagh ibn Muḥammad al-Gharnāṭī Ibn al-Samḥ (Abu al-Qasim Asbagh ibn Muhammad al-Gharnati ibn al-Samh, 979-1035). The text is divided into 130 sections (sections). A list of the sections and their titles is found on ff. 25v-28v. This copy is defective at the end, and ends abruptly during section 139 (see ending, f. 55v, lines 17-19, transcribed below). Begins (f. 25v, lines2- ): The Book of Working with the Astrolabe was written by Ibn al-Samh, may God have mercy on him, and it has one hundred and thirty chapters. Chapter One.A. On the description of the astrolabe, the naming of its parts, and its layout...
