Notlar The introduction, first seven chapters and beginning of the eighth chapter of a large work on diseases and their symptoms, complications and remedies. The identity of the author is somewhat confused; the author names himself in this copy only as Ibn Saʻd al-Dīn (ابن سعد الدين, f. 6r, line 7). Certain other copies also cite as author variants of the name Luṭf Allāh ibn Saʿd al-Dīn al-Fārūqī, but this individual is unidentified further. Brockelmann, following Kâtip Çelebi (Kashf al-Ẓunūn, Vol II, 451), attributes the work to Fakhr al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad Abū Naṣr al-Khujandī (فخر الدين محمد بن محمد أبو نصر الخجندي, active 1303-16 under Uljāytū Khudābandah, Ilkhan The paramount chief of certain tribes in south west Iran. of Iran (reg. 1304-16), but elsewhere to Luṭf Allāh ibn Saʿd al-Dīn al-Fārūqī, active India, 1524 (see Brockelmann, Carl, History of the Arabic Written Tradition: Supplement volume 2 , trans. by Joep Lameer. Handbook of Oriental studies. Section one, The Near and Middle East; volume 117/S2 [Leiden; Boston: Brill, 2016], pp. 227 and 649). The full work consists of an introduction in fifteen 'passages' (مسلك), and twenty chapters (قول) in which the author describes first the parts of the body, from the head downwards, and afterwards general diseases, followed by a conclusion (خاتمة) in five studies (أبحاث). A detailed list of the contents is given in the preface.
