Notlar	brown European cardboard binding — The style and the versification are stiff and old-fashioned. Many stop-gaps are used. The writing is very small and difficult to read, but not irregular. Neither the t or the d are used. Probably the scribe was a native of a West Pasisir district, or Cerbon. — paper — Life of Muhammad, in macapat verse, fragment, beginning with an episode of Abu Talib and his son Abdulah, Muhammad’s father. Amed is the name given to the future Prophet. The text ends abruptly. In the last episode Abu Jahal is mentioned several times. The leaves seem to be in disorder (mistake of the binder). The first page has a heading, mentioning in Arabic script: Carita Sāmī and in Latin script: Tjarita Sami, Fabulae Sami, titulus est libri, Lingua est et scriptura Javana”. Patimah Sami, the Syrian (Sa’mī) Fātima, is the name of a Javanese text relating the story of a Syrian princess who tried to become Muhammad’s mother (see Lit. of Java, vol. II, p. 870, codex Br KMA 6644, a ms. which belonged to the library of Professor Adrianus Reland of Utrecht, who died in 1718). The ms. was probably written in the 18th century. The codex SB Ms.or.quart. 363 and the Reland codex are comparable, and perhaps related.
