Notlar	Brown Oriental leather binding with fore-edge flap and envelope flap; central ornament of the front cover: circle with a twelve lobed frame and ornamental rays and an infill of an eight pointed star; the lobes and areas of the circle are fillled with gilt dots and crescent stamps; circles filled with trefoils embellish the angled corners from which protrude two onrnamental rays, frame border of multiple ruled lines; central ornament of the back cover: circle with a twelved lobed frame and ornamental rays and an infill of an eight pointed star consisting of a four pointed stars, the lobes and compartments are filled with cross stamps and gilt dots, a rosette stamp and three gilt dots embellish the angeld corners from which protrude two ornamental rays, frame border of multiple ruled lines and four lobed forms filled with scrolls; the decoration of the envelope flap resembles that of the back cover; doublures of embossed leather — black, red — Arabic script → Naskh — paper — Abridged version of the Iḥyāʾ ʿulum al-dīn, the great system of moral theology by Zayn al-Dīn Abū Ḥāmid Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Ghazālī al-Shāfiʿī (d. 14 Jumādá II 505/19 December 1111; EI2 II/1038-1041; GAL I/419-426 S I/744-756; Kaḥḥālah XI/266-2269; Ziriklī VII/22-23). According to the information given in the colophon (f. 72b) our copy of the abridgment was commissioned by Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn al-marḥūm Nāṣir. ff. 73a-73b: on the effects resulting from transgressing and disobeying Godʾs commands
