Notlar	black, red — Arabic script → Naskh — paper — Study documentation of Aḥmad ibn Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Jawharī al-Shāfiʿī al-Khālidī al-Azharī (d. 1182/1768; GAL II/331 S II/459-460; Kaḥḥāla I/185, 193; Ziriklī I/112) wherein the scholars he studied with and from whom he had received certificates of transmission are listed. f. 133b: Certificate of transmission authorized by: Aḥmad ibn Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Jawharī al-Shāfiʿī al-Khālidī al-Azharī with his seal granted to: Fatḥ Allāh ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Shāmī al-Bayrūtī on: the content of al-Jawharīʾs study documentation Fl. 113b says that ʿUmar al-Ḥawrānī al-Shāmī Darwīsh wrote this risālah for Aḥmad al-Rifāʿī al-Shāfiʿī. The wording does not make clear whether al-Ḥawrānī only is the copyist or even the author of the documentation. Ahlwardt (see no. 277), however, cites as author al-Jawharī's son Abū Hādī Muḥammad Ibn Aḥmad ibn Ḥasan al-Jawharī al-Shāfiʿī (d. 1182/1768; GAL II/331 S II/459-460; Kaḥḥālah I/185, 193; Ziriklī I/112). Furthermore, it remains unclear when Aḥmad al-Rifā'ī received the documentation: before or after al-Jawharī authorized his pupil Fatḥ Allāh ʿAlī al-Bayrūtī to transmit it. f. 134a: Certificate of transmission authorized by: Aḥmad ibn Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Jawharī al-Shāfiʿī al-Khālidī al-Azharī granted to: Fatḥ Allāh ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Shāmī al-Bayrūtī on: Sharḥ Jawharat al-tawḥīd written by ʿAbd al-Salām ibn Ibrāhīm al-Laqānī al-Mālikī (d. 1078/1668; GAL II/307 S II/419; Kaḥḥālah V/222; Ziriklī III/355), transmitted as recorded in the silsila mentioned in the text.
