Notlar	former binding of brown leather, badly preserved; boards cracked in the middle and warpened due to moisture — former binding of brown leather, badly preserved; boards cracked in the middle and warpened due to moisture — ordinary handwriting; small, delicate; densely written; red rubrication; in order to stay within the text area the last word or parts of it at the end of each line within the columns are written above the line; f. 1 renewed from a later hand in medium-sized nastaʿlīq — text area, text columns and panels for the headings frame-ruled in red — black, red — Arabic script → Nastaʽlīq — paper — This ethical didactic mathnawī divided into an introduction and ten chapters with several tales was written in mutaqārib verse by Saʿdī in 655/1275 and dedicated to Abū Bakr ibn Saʿd b. Zanjī (d. 658/1260; EI2 VIII/978). Of the once complete MS only parts of the introduction and chapters 1, 2, 7 as well as the complete chapert 10 have come down to us. The order of the verses often deviate from the usual arrangement found in editions.
