Notlar numerous marginal and interlinear glosses — Brown Oriental leather binding with fore-edge flap and envelope flap; spine, fore-edge flap, as well as the edges of the surface of the covers and the envelope flap, have been renewed in leather; central ornament of the covers: circle filled with six-pointed star that consists of two overlapping triangles; the inner area of the subfields has been decorated with gold dots and half-moons; half-moon stamps at the periphery of the circle; bevelled corners filled with gold dots; envelope flap contains two eccentric circles, the smaller, hatched circle has an extension; the areas on both sides of the circles are ornamented with diamond shapes; frame border of mandorla with scrollwork; doublures of the covers of embossed leather, doublure of the fore-edge flap of leather and that of the envelope flap made of paper — black, red — Arabic script → Naskh — paper — Revision of the Nihāyah by Abū al-Faraj ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Razīn whose work constitutes an extract from the Hanbalite legal work Kitāb al-Hidāyah fī al-furūʿ al-Ḥanbalī by Abū al-Khaṭṭāb Maḥfūẓ ibn Aḥmad al-Kalwadhānī (d. 510/1116; GAL S I/697; Kaḥḥālah VIII/188-189; Ziriklī V/291). There is some confusion due to the precise naming of the author: Whereas our MS, Brockelmann and Ziriklī give his name as Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī ibn ʿAbbās al-Baʿlī al-Ḥanbalī, Kaḥḥālah and the print from Riyadh name the author ʿAlā' al-Dīn Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAbbās ibn Shaybān al-Dimashqī al-Ḥanbalī, known as Ibn al-Laḥḥām. f. 131b: The present copy was commissioned by ʿAbd al-Qādir Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Zayn ad-Dīn ʿUbayd.
