Notlar	new red artificial leather binding; doublures in coloured patterned paper, well-preserved — new red artificial leather binding; doublures in coloured patterned paper, well-preserved — ordinary handwriting; small to medium-sized; densely written; partly vocalized; headings larger, bold, in red or some of their letters outlined in red — black, red — Arabic script → Naskh — paper — The authorʾs Arabic translation of his Persian paraenetical work entitled Bahjat al-anwār min khafīyāt (ḥaqīqat) al-anwār or Bahjat al-anwār wa-nuzhat al-qulūb al-mirāḍ which he compiled on the request of friends and to which he added extracts from Koran commentaries and works on mysticism. The Bahjah divided into 67 assemblies (majlis) incorporates Koranic verses serving as the basis for each assembly, traditions, sayings, warnings, exhortions to lead a pious life and edifying anecdotes. Our MS ends with the thirty-eighth assembly. Ḥājjī Khalīfah tells us that in the beginning Sulaymān ibn Dāʾūd gave his translation lacking the additions the title Nuzhat al-qulūb al-mirāḍ. Only after having added new material and divided his work into 67 assemblies he named it Zahrat al-riyāḍ (see Ḥājjī Khalīfah III/551-552, no. 6918). The introduction of the Berlin MS containing all assemblies does not say however anything about it. There is disagreement on the authorʾs nisbah with al-Qaynī, al-Sabtī, al-Saqsīnī and al-Sawārī to choose from.
