Notlar Light brown Oriental leather binding with fore-edge flap and envelope flap; central ornament of the covers: mandorla with lobed perimeter and an infill of floral scrolls; corners filled with three rosette stamps; frame consists of a line pattern; a triangle filled with a blossom towards the tip of the envelope flap; frame and corner fillings resemble those of the covers; fore-edge flap is decorated with a line pattern and rosette stamps; parts of the covers and almost all of the envelope flap in paper; doublures made of paper; in addition, for the MS there is also a slipcase in leather and paper. — red double text area frame — black, red — Arabic script → Naskh — paper — A collection of tales and historical anecdotes on the rulers of the Umayyads (41-132/661-750; EI2 X/840-847) and the Abbasids (132-656/750-1258; EI2 I/15-23), as well as the Iranian Barmakid vizier family (EI2 I/1033-1036). The tales begin with the second rightly guided caliph ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (ruled 13/634-23/644; EI2 X/818-822) and end with the 16th Abbasid caliph Muʿtaḍid bi-Allāh Aḥmad (ruled 279/892-289/902; EI2 I/21). f. 1a: Invocation to ranunculus (kabīkaj) that it may protect the pages of this MS from worms. ff. 21, 30: written by another hand
