Notlar	Dark brown Oriental leather binding with fore-edge flap and envelope flap; spine and fore-edge flap have been renewed; central ornament of the covers: mandorla with lobed perimeter filled with floral scrolls; bevelled corners; frame consists of a line pattern; fore-edge flap contains a cartouche with sura 56:78-79; doublures of the covers and envelope flap made of paper; doublure of the fore-edge flap of leather — black, red — Arabic script → Naskh — paper — A certificate of authorization for Shihāb al-Dīn Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad al-Farrā' on the art of reciting the Quran. The beginning of the text is missing. An Arabic note on f. 1a states that two quires are no longer extant. The original text, which is divided into two parts (pt. 1: ff. 1a-99b; pt. 2: 99b-155a), contains transmission chains on Quran recitation which go back to the oldest authorities. The following indications from the text identify the work as a certificate of authorization: on the one hand, the copyist al-Yūnīnī himself in his two colophons entitles the text “certificate of authorization” (al-ijāzah). On the other hand, Shihāb al-Dīn Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad al-Farrā' is referred to on f. 2b and f. 99b as "issuer" (al-mujīz). Thus, Karl Vollers was correct in concluding that the answer can be found in the text as to how the issuer and recipient of the certificate of authorization trace their art of Quran recitation back to the oldest authorities. However, whether the recipient of the certificate of authorization is also the copyist al-Yūnīnī, as Vollers claims, is not apparent from the text. f. 156a: page pasted on from a MS on religious-legal questions f. 156b: text on grammar
