Er studierte Arabisch, Persisch und Türkisch in Paris. 1819 wurde er Professor der orientalischen Sprache in Bonn. Er gab zwei Bände von arabischen Liedern und drei von Sprichwörtern (Arabum proverbia) heraus. „Lexicon Arabico-Latinum“ – leksykon arabsko-łaciński w czterech tomach, najważniejsze dzieło Georga Wilhelma Freytaga (1788-1861)- niemieckiego filologa-orientalisty. Studiował arabski, perski i turecki w Paryżu. W 1819 został profesorem języków orientalnych w Bonn. Redagował dwa tomy arabskich piosenek, trzy z arabskich przysłów (Arabum proverbia), a także leksykon Arabico-Latinum. “Lexicon Arabico-Latinum”- Arabic-Latin lexicon in four volumes, the most important work of Georg Wilhelm Freytag (1788-1861) - German orientalist philologist. He studied Arabic, Persian and Turkish in Paris. In 1819 he became professor of oriental languages in Bonn. He edited two volumes of Arabic songs, three from Arabic proverbia, as well as Arabico-Latinum lexicon.
