According to Aly, "the binding plays a powerful role in producing my artist's books, the look and presence of these bindings is an integral part of my work and they are linked to the content and aesthetics. The final pieces encourage the viewer to interact with the work."Bound in beige handmade flax paper over boards; rectangular white paper title label, with title printed in English and Arabic, mounted in a rectangular niche stamped in upper board; front and rear pastedowns are brown paper.. [56] leaves : all illustrations, 15 x 13 cm, unfolding to 102 cm. The twenty-eight letters of the Arabic alphabet, each laser-cut on the two leaves of a bifolium. The movable accordion binding allows the reader to explore and interact with the letters.. University of Chicago Library's copy is number 34 of 40 copies.
