Transcription finished Dhū al-Qaʻdah 1045 [?] [April-May 1636]. Appears that copyist originally entered خمسون then added اربعون above it. Former shelfmark: British Museum, London "No. 147. Commentary on al-Tashrif." Binding: Serving as a wrapper, pasteboards covered in laid paper (likely originally marbled, compare flap) with spine, fore-edge flap and edges/turn-ins in black leather ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in laid paper ; originally housed a different textblock ; current textblock sewn in pink thread, two stations but simply set in to cover without attachment to spine or endleaves ; overall in poor condition with much abrasion, lifting and losses of paper and leather, delamination of boards, staining, etc. ; repairs in dark brown leather ; housed in envelope. Support: European laid paper with 8 laid lines per cm. (vertical) and chain lines spaced 30 mm. apart (horizontal) ; crown-star-crescent watermark, accompanied by countermark of "G V" surmounted by trefoil ; thick, sturdy and well-burnished. Decoration: Keywords rubricated ; textual dividers in the form of three dots. Script: Naskh ; clear Turkish hand ; virtually serifless, though occasional head-serifs appear irregularly on alif, lām, etc. ; effect of tilt to the left ; many open counters ; rounded ; kāf mashkūlah (mashqūqah) preferred. Layout: Written in 15 lines per page ; frame-ruled. Collation: i, 6 V(60), iii ; entirely quinions ; added leaves from textblock previously housed in this cover ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes leaves carried from textblock previously housed in this cover). Ms. 15) ; a few marginal corrections.. Fine copy of Yaḥyá ibn Ibrāhīm ibn ʻAbd al-Salām al-Zanjānī's commentary on ʻAzz al-Dīn ʻAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Ibrāhīm al-Zanjānī's Kitāb al-Taṣrīf. Wrapped in a cover originally affixed to a textblock containing at least two different works of Abū al-Nāfiʻ Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq al-Qāzābādī (d.1749), namely a ḥāshiyah on al-Muqaddimāt al-arbaʻ, a portion of ʻUbayd Allāh ibn Masʻūd al-Maḥbūbī's (d.1346) commentary on his own Tanqīḥ al-Uṣūl, and a commentary on the Ādāb of Birgivî Mehmet Efendi (d.1573). Brief excerpts from these two works thus appear on the leaves still attached to the upper and lower covers.
