Notlar .Full-leather Islamic binding with coloured ornaments (medallions). Illustrations and illuminations. Dated on f. 39a. The prayers that have to be pronounced by the pilgrims are written in Arabic, in red ink. The text is illustrated by number of colourful illustrations depicting the holy places in and around Mekka and Medina, and also the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. The illustrations show the buildings as seen from above, but set in a flat projection. Numerous human beings are depicted, performing their prayers or simply standing and looking by. cf. H. Ethé, Nos. 1417-1420.An illustrated guide to the Holy Places. The present volume is in fact a reconstruction of an older manuscript, the leaves of which have been pasted to pages, as an album.
