Contents listed in detail on 'title page' (p.3). | Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 255 Origin: As appears in colophon on p.134, transcription of Kitāb al-Ḥudūd wa-al-aḥkām completed in 1063 [1652 or 3], from a copy in the hand of the author. As appears in colophon on p.291, transcription of final work (and perhaps that of Ibn Quṭlūbughā) completed in Dhū al-Qaʻdah 1050 [February 1641]. Remaining works likely also copied in the 17th century (as suggested by hand and paper). Former shelfmark: "٧٥" on spine label ; "401 T. De M. [i.e. Tammaro De Marinis]" inscribed in pencil on recto of front flyleaf (p.1) ; "214" inscribed in pencil on 'title page' (p.3). Binding: Pasteboards covered in dark brown leather ; Type II binding (with flap, though fully detached) ; board linings in marbled paper (in olive green, dark blue and white) ; upper and lower covers carry stamped and gold-painted scalloped mandorla (filled with vegetal decoration, compare Déroche class. OAi 8) with accents and tooled border in gold ; sewn in cream thread, two stations, some thread breakage ; worked chevron endbands in light pink and cream, damaged (tailband especially) ; overall in somewhat poor condition with flap detached, upper cover detaching, some abrasion, lifting and losses of leather, etc. ; housed in box for protection. Support: non-European laid paper of at least two types ; opening type with 9 laid lines per cm. (horizontal) and rare chain lines partially visible ; from p.64 another type with 10 laid lines per cm. (vertical, quite indistinct) and chains rarely visible, thinner, though sturdy, medium to dark cream in color ; pp.136-148 and pp.157-202 on a European laid paper with 11 laid lines per cm. (horizontal), chain lines spaced 26 mm. apart (vertical), and watermark of paschal lamb in four-lobed circle (see p.136, 138, etc. and compare Agneau pascal nos. 9-24 (dated 17th century) in Velkov, Les Filigranes dans les documents Ottomans) ; from p.203 another European laid paper with 8 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 26 mm. apart (horizontal) and watermark (difficult to make out) ; some leaves tinted beige or buff (a light orange color). Decoration: Keywords, abbreviation symbols, and section headings rubricated ; textual dividers in the form of red inverted commas ; gold frame surrounds the written area of the first two works and final two works (work of Ibn Quṭlūbughā and work of Taşköprüzade) ; illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān) appears at the opening of the work of Ibn Quṭlūbughā (p.204) ; another illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān) appears the opening of the work by Taşköprüzade (p.254).
