Ms. 108 Origin: As suggested by authorial colophon on p.28, granted by İsmail Ahmet Ahıskavî (Ismāʻīl ibn Aḥmad Akhisqawī) in 11 Jumādá I 1262 [ca. 7 May 1846] with transcription likely completed just before this date. Copyist supplying the main text of the ijāzah is unnamed. Former shelfmark: British Museum, London "No. 143. Ijazat al-alam." ; on front flyleaf "80" in Hindu-Arabic numerals Binding: Pasteboards covered in black pressed, textured paper with red leather over spine and edges/turn-ins ; Type III binding (without flap) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in yellow-tinted European laid paper ; sewn in yellow thread, four stations, with primaries in red ; overall in good condition with only minor abrasion, etc. Support: European wove paper ; well-burnished ; tinted light-green, Decoration: Illuminated headpiece at opening on p.6 consisting of an arrangement of plumes (in red, blue, purple, white, etc.) and flowers (in pink and white with green leaves) on a field of gold ; written area surrounded by frame consisting of a heavy gold band outlined by black and red fillets ; textual dividers in the form of illuminated rosettes with red and blue accents ; keywords rubricated. Script: Naskh ; fine, well-executed Ottoman hand ; seriffed with mainly right-sloping headserifs on most ascenders ; effect of tilt to the left ; mainly open counters ; rounded, mainly curvilinear descenders ; rightward descenders tapered ; 'authorial colophon' in different hand, namely that of the scholar granting the ijāzah. Layout: Written in 17 lines per page ; frame-ruled. Collation: i, VII (14), i ; a single septernion ; opening leaf and final leaf blank ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes flyleaves). Colophon: "Authorial," rectangular, reads: "كتبه الفقير الحقير المملوء بالذنب اسماعيل بن احمد اخسقه وى غفر الله له ولوالديه وللمؤمنين والمؤمنات كافة في ١١ حا سنة ١٢٦٢" Incipit: "نحمدك اللهم يا من قد احاط بكل شيء علما ونصب من مضوعاته على كمال قدرته علما ... وبعد فان من المعقول عند كل عاقل بل من المشهور في نظر كل غافل ان اجزاء العالم منحصرة في جواهر واعراض ..."
