Ms. 217 Origin: As appears in colophon on fol.33b-34a, copied, vocalized, and glossed by Mehmet Nuri, known as Niyazi [?], son of İbrahim known as Etham el-Vehbî Efendi. Transcription finished "wa-qad waqaʻa al-farāgh min tabyīḍihā..." in the first tenth [العشر الاول] of Ramaḍān 1293 [September 1876]. Binding: Pasteboards covered in black leather ; Type III binding (without flap) with Western elements ; pastedowns and flyleaves in shell marbled paper (lavender, blue, red, yellow, and white) ; upper and lower covers bear gold-stamped central panel (oval surrounded by floral vegetal band), floral cornerpieces, and border in architectural design with floral accents ; gold-stamped floral vegetal decoration in bands on spine ; sewn in heavy cream thread, four stations (in lieu of primaries) ; no endbands ; in good condition with minor abrasion, staining, etc. Support: non-European laid paper ; laid lines running vertically, fairly distinct but with some curving and sagging, spaced roughly 12 laid lines per cm. ; chain lines faintly visible, but quite indistinct ; quite crisp ; fairly translucent ; some inclusions and undissolved fibers visible ; well-burnished ; surfaced tinted to a rosy pink.
