Notlar About: al-Jurjānī's glosses on the longer commentary of al-Taftāzānī (d.1389?) upon Talkhīṣ al-Miftāḥ by Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān al-Qazwīnī (d. 739/1338), an abridgment of the third part of Miftāḥ al-ʻulūm by al-Sakkākī (d. 626/1229), on ʻIlm al-maʻānī wa-al-bayān. Glosses on Talkhis al-Miftah." Binding: Pasteboards coverd in brown leather (pebble grained appearance of shagreen) over marbled paper ; Type II binding (with flap) ; doublures and interior of foreedge and envelope flaps in red leather ; upper and lower cover bear a simple rule-border consisting of a series of gold-painted fillets, better preserved on the flap ; in fair condition with abrasion, some tears, repairs to spine, and loose sewing. Support: non-European (?) laid paper with laid lines barely visible, running horizontally and spaced roughly 9 laid lines per cm., chain lines barely visible, running vertically and irregularly spaced though occasionally 25 mm. apart, many inclusions and undissolved fibers, rather thin, and burnished ; flyleaves are in a different European laid paper with partial watermarks "Tosco..." [?] and six pointed star. Decoration: Simple frame consisting of a gold band framed by black fillets ; text rubricated with keywords such as "قوله", chapter headings and overlinings in red. Script: Naskh / Nastaʻlīq ; entire ms. in same Persian (?) hand ; sans serif and characteristic sloping of words to baseline ; fully pointed to convention. Layout: Written in 17 lines per page.
