Inventory cataloguing slip in hand of Winifred Smeaton Thomas. Former shelfmark: From inner front cover, "IL 57 II" (likely supplied by Yahuda). Binding: Pasteboards covered in red-brown leather ; Type II binding (with flap) though flap and lower cover are now missing ; upper cover carries stamped central mandorla (compare Déroche class. OAi2 7) and pendants ; pastedown of blue laid paper ; pasted label on spine bears former shelfmark ; sewing in light pink thread, four stations and worked chevron endbands in pale pink and blue over red leather core, damaged with only remnants of threads and exposed cores remaining (contribution to cataloguing from Aisha Wahab) ; overall in poor condition with lifting and losses of leather, upper board delaminating, sewing failing, etc ; repair to upper joint across part of spine in brown leather. Support: non-European (likely Persian) laid paper; laid lines running horizontally and spaced roughly 7-8 laid lines per cm; heavy and flocculent with many undissolved fibers. Decoration: Sūrah headings and Qurʼānic text rubricated; ink has faded in several places.
