Notlar About: Careful though incomplete copy of the takhmīs, presumably by Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd al-ʻAzīz al-Warrāq al-Lakhmī al-Qurṭubī al-Iskandarānī (d.1281) upon Muḥammad ibn Rashīd al-Wāʻiẓ al-Baghdādī al-Witrī's (d.1264) al-Qaṣāʼid al-Witrīyah or Bustān al-ʻārifīn fī maʻrifat al-dunyā wa-al-dīn, ending in Ḥarf al-fāʼ. Prose preface has been added on the verso of the added 'title page' (p.2). | Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 1005 Origin: Lacks dated colophon ; paper, etc. would suggest early to mid 18th century (compare similar watermarks / countermarks in Velkov and Andreev, Filigranes dans les documents ottomans. I Trois croissants, p.62). Former shelfmark: Mich. Isl. Ms. temp. no. 154 Binding: Pasteboards covered in block-printed paper (mauve / dark pink with repeating three-lobed motifs and dots in black, triangles constituting interstices between repeating circular fields in mint green) with tan leather over spine ; Type III binding (without flap) ; board linings in dark blue / indigo laid paper ; ill-fitting and unattached to text block, essentially recycled cover serving as wrapper ; text block once sewn in cream thread, now failed with threads remaining only inside some gatherings ; traces of endband primaries in blue and cream ; overall in somewhat poor condition with wrapper ill-fitting, abrasion, staining, lifting and losses of leather and paper, minor pest damage, etc. ; housed in carboard portfolio for protection. Support: European laid paper with 9 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 26-32 mm. apart (horizontal), three crescents / tre lune watermark (86 mm. long, perpendicular to chains, see pp.12, 30, 32, 86, etc.) and countermark "A 3" / "A Z" under trefoil (see pp.90, 93, etc.), sturdy, cream in color, well-burnished. Decoration: Some keywords rubricated ; textual dividers in the form of inverted commas. Script: Naskh ; compact, slightly awkward Egyptian [?] hand in a medium to bold line ; partially but irregularly seriffed with occasional tilt to the left, curvilinear descenders, pointing mainly in distinct dots though three dots represented by curved stroke looking like inverted comma, alif maqṣūrah often pointed as yāʼ ; extensively vocalized. Layout: Written mainly in 17 lines per page with the three hemistichs of the takhmīs preceding each bayt of the qaṣīdah ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident). Collation: V+1 (11), 4 V(51) ; exclusively quinions ; catchwords present ; quire numbering in red ink in the form of whole words with catch title accompanied by Hindu-Arabic numberal on the recto of the opening leaf of each quire (e.g. "الثالث من الوترية ٣" ) ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization. Explicit: "اذا جئت بالمرضي من عند ربنا ..." Incipit: "حرف الالف بدأت بذكر الله مدحا مقدما وأثني بحمد الله شكرا معظما واختم قولي بالصلاة وانما اصلي صلاة تملا الارض والسماء على من له اعلى العلا متبوا ..."
