Notlar About: Admonitions of ʻAlī to his son Muḥammad al-Ḥanafīyah. | Title page and colophon give name of copyist as Shaykh Ḥamdallah (also known as Ibn al-Shaykh, 1429-1520); perhaps the single most important Ottoman calligrapher according to Irvin C. Schick (28 December 1989). According to Muhittin Serin, the copy is not in Shaykh Ḥamdallah's hand but was copied in its entirety, including colophon, by another calligrapher in imitation of his style (April 1993). From notes on catalog card in repository. Illuminated ʻunwān and colophon; text vocalized and enclosed within gold borders. Date of early 16th cent. suggested by researcher (Muhittin Serin, April 1993).
