Notlar	About: Fine copy of al-Tawḍīḥ (التوضيح), the commentary by Muṣṭafá ibn Zakarīyā ibn Aydughmish al-Qaramānī (d.1406) on al-Muqaddimah fī al-ṣalāh, a work on jurisprudential issues pertaining to the canonical prayer (ṣalāh, ṣalāt) by Abū al-Layth al-Samarqandī (d.993). \| Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 530 Origin: As appears in colophon on p.182, copied by Ḥājjī Muḥammad ibn Ḥājjī Sinān (Hacı Mehmet bin Hacı Sinan) with transcription completed 4 [?] Dhū al-Ḥijjah 986 [ca. 1 February 1579]. Accompanying materials: a. Acquisitions slip from Yahuda (pp.1-2) -- b.Inventory cataloguing slip in hand of Winifred Smeaton Thomas (pp.3-4). Former shelfmark: From inner front cover and spine label, "IL 64b" (likely supplied by Yahuda, see acquisitions slip). Binding: Pasteboards covered in once yellow-tinted laid paper (see flap) with dark brown leather over spine, fore edge flap, and edges/turn-ins (framed binding) ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in untinted laid paper ; sewn in dark blue thread, two stations, many threads broken ; overall in somewhat poor condition with significant abrasion, staining, lifting and losses of leather, etc. ; repairs to spine and fore edge flap in tan leather. Support: European laid paper with 9 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 28 mm. apart (horizontal), watermark of anchor in circle with six-pointed star above (65 mm. tall, see p.170, 179, etc.), and "T C" under trefoil countermark (see p.181) ; sturdy though crisp ; well-burnished to glossy. Decoration: Keywords rubricated ; written area of incipit and facing page surrounded by frame consisting of gold band outlined by black fillets ; textual dividers in the form of letter hāʼ in red. Script: Naskh ; clear 'Syrian' or Turkish hand, small and compact ; mainly serifless, rounded with curvilinear descenders, very slight effect of tilt to the left, pointing in strokes rather than distinct dots, etc. Layout: Written in 21 lines per page ; frame-ruled. Collation: i, 8 V(80), IV+1 (89) ; almost exclusively quinions ; front flyleaf now affixed to opening leaf ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes inserts).
