Transcription finished ("wa-kāna al-farāgh minhā...") 10 Shawwāl 1265 [ca. 29 August 1849]. Corrected by the author as attested by his autograph on fol.48a (p.97). Binding: Pasteboards covered in green paper with spine, fore-edge flap, and edges/turn-ins in red leather ; Type II binding (with flap, tucked inside lower cover) ; board linings in paper ; sewn in white thread, two stations ; chevron endbands in blue and white ; in fair condition with abrasion, staining, lifting of leather at spine and fore-edge, etc. Support: European laid and wove paper ; first two quires in laid paper with chain lines spaced 25-27 mm. apart (vertical) and roughly 10 laid lines per cm., tre lune watermark and cursive "G B [?]" countermark ; latter three quires in wove paper. Decoration: Text rubricated with keywords, section headings, overlining, etc. in red. Script: Naskh ; bold Turkish hand ; sans serif ; angular ; descenders tapered or flattened ; many open counters ; pointing with two dots fairly distinct ; very slight effect of tilt to left ; horizontal strokes somewhat elongated. Layout: Written in 17 lines per page ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident). Collation: i, 5 V(50) ; entirely quinions ; final two leaves left blank ; catchwords present ; foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals (begins on fol.2 with ٢ and ends on fol.48 with ٤٨) ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes front flyleaf).
