Notlar About: Careful copy of Kitāb al-Mashāʻir, the work on ontology by Mullā Ṣadrā Shīrāzī (d.1641), renowned philosopher of the Ṣafavid period, followed by a brief treatise attributed to Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Ṭūṣī (d.1274), Risālah fī māhīyat al-ʻilm wa-al-ʻālim wa-al-maʻlūm (see pp.46-47). | Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 936 Origin: Lacks dated colophon ; likely copied in Egypt in the late 1930s and bound for James Heyworth-Dunne (d.1974). Former shelfmark: Mich. Isl. Ms. temp. no. 85 Binding: Boards covered in dark green cloth with dark green leather over spine (quarter binding) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in wove paper printed with a floral vegetal pattern in green ; spine gold-stamped with title and decorative accents over raised bands "رسالة المشاعر | الشيرازي | J.H.D." ; sewing difficult to examine ; stuck-on endbands (blue and white stripe) ; overall in fairly good condition. Support: Lined / ruled wove paper. Script: Ruqʻah ; compact hand in a medium line ; serifless and freely ligatured with slight effect of tilt to the right, mainly closed counters, pointing in strokes rather than distinct dots. Layout: Written in 26 lines per page. Collation: i, 2 V(20), II (24), i (as suggested by quire numbering, sewing difficult to examine) ; two quinions followed by a binion ; quire numbering in the form of Hindu-Arabic numerals accompanied by letter kāf (ك) appearing on the opening recto of each gathering from the second (see pp.21, 41) ; pagination in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization. Explicit: "ولا نسيان وذلك فضل الله يؤتيه من يشاء والله ذو الفضل العظيم والمن الجليل وحسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل نعم المولى ونعم النصير تمت الرسالة بعون صاحب الرفعة والعظمة والجلالة والحمد لله رب العالمين" Incipit: "نفتتح جدنا ونعوذ بعفوه من عقابه ... الرسالة الصدرية نحمد الله ونستعين بقوته التي اقام بها ملكوت الارض والسماء وبكلمته التي انشأ بها نشأتي الاولى والآخرة البداية والانتهاء على تهذيب القوى القابلة للاستكمال ... وبعد فاقل الخلائق قدرا وجرما واكثرهم خطأ وجرما محمد المشتهر بصدر الدين يقول ايها الاخوان السالكون الى الله بنور العرفان ..."
