Notlar	About: Fine copy of the Naqshbandī treatise by ʻAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad al-Nidāʼī al-Kāshgharī (Abdullah Nidâî-yi Kâşğarî). \| Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 262 Origin: As appears in authorial colophon on p.116, composed in Istanbul, near the türbe of Ebu Eyyûb el-Ensarî (Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī) in Eyüp [in the tekke established by the author], Rabīʻ al-Ākhir 1165 [February-March 1752]. Transcription of this copy likely just after. Paper certainly suggests 18th century. Former shelfmark: "322 T. De M. [i.e. Tammaro De Marinis]" inscribed in pencil on verso of front flyleaf (p.2). Binding: Thick boards covered in painted lacquerwork, spine in black leather (overlapping flanges) ; Type III binding (without flap) ; doublures in painted lacquerwork (swirling floral composition in bronze on a dark green to black ground) with doublure hinges in decorative paper (dark blue with vegetal design in white) ; upper and lower covers bear paintings of nearly identical floral composition in mirror image to one another on a dark red to black background, namely a central cluster of peonies, poppies, etc. with roses, poppies, buds, and other floral forms all in shades of pink and white with leaves in various shades of green ; sewn in light red thread, two stations, sewing loose ; worked chevron endbands in magenta and cream, damaged ; overall in somewhat poor condition with some abrasion, crazing, cracking and losses to lacquerwork, etc. ; housed in box for protection. Support: European laid paper with 11 laid lines per cm. (horizontal), chain lines spaced 25-26 mm. apart (vertical), and watermark of crown above grapes (raisin, see p.12, 18, etc.) ; sturdy, well-sized and burnished to glossy, beige in color. Decoration: Illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān / sarlawḥ) at opening on p.4, consisting of rectangular piece with gold cartouche carrying the title and author in red "رسالۀ حقية للشيخ عبد الله الكاشغرى" flanked by floral accents in pink, red, orange, and gold and surrounded by decorative bands in pink, red, and gold ; rectangular piece surmounted by scalloped semi-circular piece (dome) filled with swirling vegetal decoration in light blue, pink, red, white, etc. on a field of gold set in well in shades of blue with flanking gold bands ; entire piece surmounted by vertical stalks (tīgh) in red and blue ; written area throughout surrounded by frame consisting of heavy gold band flanked by black fillets with outermost red rule ; keywords and excerpts in Arabic (ḥadīth, etc.) rubricated ; opening textual dividers in the form of gold discs, thereafter textual dividers in the form inverted commas, three inverted commas, etc. in red. Script: Naskh ; fine Turkish / Ottoman hand in a medium line ; partially seriffed with occasional right-sloping head-serifs on lām, ṭāʼ, etc., effect of tilt to the left, slight effect of words descending to baseline, dot of final nūn often assimilated with bowl, pointing in distinct or conjoined dots, two dots occasionally written vertically. Layout: Written in 11 lines per page ; frame-ruled. Collation: i, 5 V(50), V-2 (58), i ; exclusively quinions (one anomalous) ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes flyleaves and skips two pages between pp.55-56). Colophon: "Authorial," triangular, reads: "هزار و صد و شصت و پنج بود تاريخ هجرت نبويه در شهر اسلامبول در قرب حضرت ابي ايوب انصارى در ماه ربيع الاخر نوشته شد و السلام على من اتبع الهدى" Explicit: "تمام حرف را در پرده گفتم درى چند از حقايق بود سفتم الهى خلق كن اقبال تأليف در اطوار حقايق گشت تصنيف بهر طالب مرادش كشف گردد دلش از بحر رحمت نشف گردد نوشتم نام اين شيرين شمائل شود حقيه ما بين رسائل درين ميدان حق از باطل جدا شد ريا و حب جاه اينجا هوا شد دعا از دوستان اميد دارم قلم بشكست رفت از دست كارم " Incipit: "الحمد لله على النعمة الظاهرة والباطنة في جميع الاحوال وعلى الرحمة الواسعة السابقة على القهر والجلال ... وبعد از حمد خدا و درود مصطفى در بيان طريقت نقشبنديه كه طريق اهل السنة و الجماعتست ..."
