Notlar	About: Fine copy of the collection of legal decisions by Kemalpaşazade (d.1534) followed by Badr al-wāʻiẓīn wa-dhukhr al-ʻābidīn, occasionally attributed to Firişteoğlu (Firiştezade) ʻAbd al-Laṭīf ibn ʻAbd al-ʻAzīz al-shahīr bi-Ibn Malak, but more likely by his son Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd al-Laṭīf Ibn Malak al-Rūmī. Ms. 663 Origin: As appears in colophon on p.414, transcription of second work completed in the latter part of Dhū al-Qaʻdah 1087 [February 1677] by Muṣṭafá ibn Muḥammad. Opening work lacks colophon, but likely completed around the same time or slightly later (late 17th century to early 18th century). Accompanying materials: a. Inventory cataloguing slip in hand of Winifred Smeaton Thomas -- b. Acquisitions slip from Yahuda -- c. Insert carrying notes (paginated pp.183-184). Former shelfmark: From inner front cover, "IL 375" (likely supplied by Yahuda, see acquisitions slip). Binding: Pasteboards covered in once marbled paper with dark red-brown leather over spine and edges/turn-ins (as well as now lost fore edge flap, likely, framed binding) ; Type II binding (with flap, now lost) ; board linings in untinted laid paper ; sewn in light cream thread, two stations ; traces of worked headband remain ; overall in somewhat poor condition with loss of flap, significant abrasion, staining, lifting and losses of paper and leather, delamination of boards, etc. ; repair to spine in red leather. (vertical), chain lines spaced 29 mm. apart (horizontal), and three crescents watermark (85 mm. long, perpendicular to chains, see p.302, 303, etc.). Decoration: Section headings, keywords and some abbreviation symbols (mainly two-teeth stroke over keywords) rubricated. Script: Nastaʻlīq (talik) and naskh ; two elegant hands ; opening work in nastaʻlīq (talik), at least two hands, both compact and elongated in the vertical, virtually serifless with effect of words descending to baseline and of tilt to the left ; following work in a fine naskh, serifless with effect of tilt to the left, slight effect of words descending to baseline, curvilinear descenders, pointing in strokes or conjoined dots, free assimilation of letters, slight contrast in thickness between horizontal and vertical strokes. Layout: Written in 29 and 19 lines per page ; frame-ruled.
