Ms. 128 Origin: As appears on p.102, transcription finished 1 Ṣafar 1178 [ca. 31 July 1764]. Former shelfmark: British Museum, London "No. 21. Al-Kafiyah." Binding: Pasteboards covered in brown leather (interesting grain) ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in laid paper ; upper and lower covers bear blind-stamped lozenge with floral vegetal composition (horizontal and vertical symmetry) and border in tooled fillets framing series of x-shaped stamps ; desgin continues on flap with blind-stamped rosette and tooled frame ; sewn in white thread, two stations ; endbands gone, only traces of primaries remain ; in poor condition with significant abrasion, some lifting and losses of leather, delamination of boards, moisture damage, etc. ; housed in envelope. Support: European laid paper with 10 laid liner per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced roughly 25 mm. apart (horizontal), watermark with grapes and "ROUERGUE" (compare Heawood 3375) ; smooth, thin and fairly translucent ; significant staining and moisture damage to latter quires in particular. Decoration: Keywords, section headings, and abbreviations rubricated. Script: Naskh ; elegant Ottoman hand ; mainly serifless though occasional right-sloping head serifs appear ; mainly open counters ; occasional sweeping descenders ; fully vocalized. Layout: Written in 11 lines per page ; frame-ruled. Collation: 5 V(50), I (52) ; chiefly quinions ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization. Colophon: "Scribal," rectangular, reads: "تمت الكتاب بعون الله الملك الوهاب في ١ صفر سنة ١١٧٨" Explicit: "فيرد ما حذف والمفتوح ما قبلها تقلب الفا" Incipit: "الكلمة لفظ وضع لمعنى مفرد وهي اسم وفعل وحرف ..."
