Accompanying materials: a. Inventory cataloguing slip in hand of Winifred Smeaton Thomas. -- b. Binding: Pasteboards covered dark purple straight-grained leather ; Type II binding (with flap), two-piece binding (seam of overlapping flanges visible at spine) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in emerald green coated wove paper ; upper and lower covers carry faded, gold-painted floral spray filling central rectangular panel, as well as tooled and gold-painted borders ; sewn in dark blue thread, two stations ; worked chevron endbands in white and magenta over yellow primaries ; overall in fairly good condition with minor abrasion, etc. Support: European paper of several different types ; one type with roughly 7 laid lines per cm. (horizontal), chain lines spaced 26-28 mm. apart (vertical), watermark of crown-star-crescent (70 mm. long, parallel to chains, compare Mošin and Grozdanovic-Pajié type V. A., see p.20, 72, 438, etc.), and countermark "V d" under trefoil (see p.82, etc.) ; another, slightly thinner type with 11 laid lines per cm. (horizontal), chain lines spaced 28 mm. apart (vertical), watermark of three hats (tre cappelli, see p.18, etc.) and countermark of "P A" under trefoil (see p.14, 36, 64, etc.) ; a few other countermarks visible as well ; all well-burnished. Decoration: Section headings, notabilia (side-heads, such as "مطلب"), and overlining rubricated ; textual dividers in the form of three dots. Script: Naskh-nastaʻlīq (talik) ; small, compact hand in a medium line (same hand supplying both works) ; serifless with slight effect of words descending to baseline, pointing in strokes rather than distinct dots, some elongation of horizontal strokes, letteforms characteristic of nastaʻlīq, point of final or free-standing nūn often either conjoined with bowl or set down within.
