Ms. 990 Origin: As appears in colophon on p.21, apparently copied in Egypt by Muḥyī al-Dīn al-Kurdī (head muqriʼ in the Sulṭān Qalāwūn complex [?]) with transcription completed 19 January 1919. Former shelfmark: Mich. Isl. Ms. temp. no. 139 Binding: Boards covered in black textured cloth ; pastedowns and flyleaves in wove paper printed with a geometric pattern (resembling a scale pattern) in olive green or dull gold ; cover gold-stamped with "معتقد اهل البهاء" ; sewn in white thread, six stations ; overall in fairly good condition. Support: Wove paper. Decoration: Some headings, glosses and corrections rubricated ; overlining in red. Script: Naskh ; elegant modern hand in a thin to medium line ; mainly serifless with effect of tilt to the left, slight effect of words descending to baseline, curvilinear descenders, open and curved counters, pointing in strokes or conjoined dots (typically oriented vertically), final yāʼ usually unpointed, partially vocalized. Layout: Written in 11 and 17 lines per page ; frame-ruled. Collation: i, VII (14), i ; a single septenion ; final leaves left blank (see pp.22-28) ; catchwords present ; pagination mainly in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization. Colophon: "Scribal [?]," reads "حرر ذلك بقلم الفاني [؟] محيي الدين الكردي ... شيخ المقرئ [القراء] بسلطان قلاون بمصر في ١٩ يناير سنه ١٩١٩" Explicit: "نزلت في الكتب والصحف السماوية من قبل وبدليل التقرير والمعجزات ونختتم كيفية الاستدلال في ضمن اربع فصول ان شاء الله" Incipit: "اعلم ايها الباحث الفاضل الجليل ايدك الله بروح منه انه لا يخفى عليك ان من يتبع الكتب السماوية وينظر فيها بنظر التدقيق والتحقيق ويتصفحها بالتأمل والتدبر يعرف ويعلم بان الكتب المنزلة على الانبياء والصحف المقدسة باجمعها مملوءة بالبشارات العظمة ومتفقون على خبر واحد ..."
