Notlar Decoration: Double-page frontispiece (ff. 2v, 3) in gold, blue, and lavender floral style. All pages ruled in gold bands and black lines; gold circular verse markers; thirty marginal floral sprays marking the juz (section marker) in gold and colors. Colophon page (f. 300) illuminated with text in oval frame with green border in gold, blue, and purple on a dark blue field. Missing the penultimate page which would have contained the final six surahs of the Qur'an and possibly an illuminated oval matching the one on the final page, recto. The last folio is detached, and there is damage on the upper inner margins of the final three pages and the flap. Date given in the colophon, in script: "Sanat thalith wa tama 'in wa satin (satayn) wa alf" -- had been misread by an earlier researcher as 1183/1760, as the word for "husband" is in the dual case, the date would be 1283/1866-67. (Barbara Schmitz) Date given in the colophon Harry E. Carlson, who died in 1992, was Assistant to Secretary of Commerce, Henry A. Wallace, and a candidate for Governor of New Hampshire in 1948, losing to Sherman Adams.
