Notlar
An original plan from the survey of Western Palestine showing the aqueducts bringing water from the wadies Fara, Kelt and Nuwayimeh into the Jericho oasis. These aqueducts date from the Hellenistic era onwards, and were used and added to for centuries well into the Islamic era. Note in particular how they feed into the Umayyad period Khirbet al Mafjar, a huge agricultural estate and palace, and the Mamluk period sugar mill, Tawaheen es Sukkar.
