Ata, the son of Sheikh al-Islam Şerif Efendi, was born in Istanbul in 1173 (1759-60) and became Shaykh al-Islam in 1221 (1806-07), IH. Because he was involved in the revolution that caused the murder of Selim, he was exiled to Kızanlık and then to Cüzelhisar and died there in 1226 (1811). It is not mentioned for which sultan this ode was written. |
