Notlar Auf der Rückseite der Titelseite in kyrillischer Schrift: "Izdano v količestvě, 50 ėkzempljarov, iz nich v prodažu postupilo 25 ėkz. po cěně 500 rub. každyj." - "Kartografičeskoe zavedenie D. Rudneva, S.-Peterburg. Novyj per. d. No 5." This "Tashkent copy" of the first official Koran in book form was taken from Damascus to Samarqand by Timur (Tamerlane, 1336-1405). When Samarqand (in modern day Uzbekistan)--was absorbed into Tsarist Russia, the copy was taken to Saint Petersburg. General Ali Akbar Topchibashi retrieved the copy and sent it to Tashkent, where it remains. While the copy was in Saint Petersburg, one of the Tsars ordered made a facsimile of the "Samarqand Cufic (script) Koran," with a printing of circa fifty copies, some of which were brought to the U.S.A Photocopy | Photocopy
