Notlar	Opinions about the authorship of this work differ. According to Ḥājjī Khalīfah the author drew upon the commentaries of al-Māzirī (d. 536/1141), Qāḍī ‘Iyāḍ al-Yaḥṣūbī (d. 544/1149), al-Qurţubī (d. 656/1258) and al-Nawawī (d. 676/1277) (see GAL SB I 265, Cmtre 1, 2, 4, 5). The author refers to these sources respectively by the following letters: ط ،ع ،م and د. These symbols (rumūz) are found in the present manuscript, and it is accepted that al-Washtātī is the author. He borrowed from his Shaykh, Ibn ‘Arafah (d. 803/1401) (see GAL SB II, 347, no. 6). Oriental paper, well defined chain lines (three by three). Rubrics. Catchwords. Title note on fol. 1r, by the same person who wrote the waqf dedication, [Aḥmad b. Abī Bakr b. Muḥammad b. Riḍwān]: al-Juz’ al-thānī min Sharḥ Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim al-musammá bi-al-Ikmāl [tahdhīb al-Kamāl] li-al-Shaykh ‘Abd al-Ghanī al-Maqdisī (al-Maqdisī 541-600/1146-1203; see GAL I 356, no. 14, SB I 605).
