Notes
Author and title of the work remain unidentified, since the beginning of the text is missing. The title used here is penned onto the bottom edge. The manuscript contains a total number of 57 ff. (cf. Tur 20 b): Tur 20a and Tur 20b seem to have originally been separate books which were bound together, Tur 20b being trimmed to the size of Tur 20a. Strong cream-coloured paper with laid lines and watermark; some plant names are overscored; no border or decoration; occasional catchwords; some corrections in the margin. f. 20b: a notice, in siyagat script, on the way stations (menzīl) from Istanbul to the Crimea. The work describes the preparation of popular medicines from fruits, plants, herbs and spices (apple, pomegranate, cypress leaves, clove, pepper, etc., but also honey) for the cure of bad breath, eye diseases, a sore throat, and toothache, loss of hair, cough, children's and women's illnesses, difficulties during childbirth, etc. It also indicates how to take these medicines and how they work. The orthography is quite eccentric. Similar works are described in Tiirk. Hss. vol. 4, pp. 398 ff.
