Notes
It is an appendix to Ibn Khallikan's book Deaths of Notables, in which the author discusses those who died in Egypt and the Levant. The book was originally divided into several volumes, and this copy is one of the volumes of the book that begins with the letter Alif. On page 67 of this copy, the author said the following: “This book was published on Saturday, the fifth of Dhu al-Qi’dah, in the year fifteen hundred and seventeen hundred in Arabic, corresponding to the beginning of January in the year one thousand six hundred and twenty-seven in Alexandria, and the fifth of Amsha, in the year one thousand thirty-two, for the Copts, and the year six thousand eight hundred and twenty-four for the world, which is the age of Adam, peace be upon him, in the outskirts of guarded Damascus. May God forgive the reader...) Then the author began with two notables who died from the first months of the year. 717 AH to 726 AH.
