Notlar Bronze statuette of Anubis standing on oblong base with a lotus clasped in the right hand. Statue appears to be cast solid. Wristlets, armlets and wig incised crudely. Left leg advanced. Left hand probably grasped an ankh of which a very small portion remains. Large lotus blossom held in right hand against breast. No inscription. Technique: Statue appears to be cast solid. Wristlets, armlets and wig incised very crudely. Left leg advanced. Left hand probably grasped an ankh of which a very small portion remains. Large lotus blossom held in right hand against breast. Condition: General condition good. On base and back of figure are extensive scattered deposits of encrustation. Condition of surface suggests that the piece was partially cleaned by a mechanical process. Object originally clasped in left hand (probably an ankh) now missing. | more | less
