Notlar Fragments of a black stelephorus statue of Khaemhat. Khaemhat kneels upon a rectangular plinth (the front of the plinth is missing) holding before him a round-topped stela (his hands rest upon the top of the stela) which is inscribed with a hymn to the sun. He wears a tunic with short, loose-fitting sleeves. On each wrist and each bicep he wears a plain bracelet. He wears a long transparent robe which hangs down from his legs onto the base. There is a broad bead collar in relief. The head is missing, as it the top of the back pillar. The inscriptions, in paint-incised relief are as follows: On the stela there are 12 lines of text including the upper round-topped register. On the back pillar there are two columns of text both of which read from right to left and from top to bottom. On the figure's right side of the plinth is a single line of text. Condition: Head and neck missing; front of plinth missing; part of right side of base broken off and now a separate fragment; small chips and large cracks throughout the figure. | more | less
