Notlar Blue. In shape of a miniature papyrus capital. On upper surface, cartouche of Horemheb (Djeserkheperure Setep[en]re) surmounted by a sun disc with two plumes. The cartouche is flanked by uraei wearing the crowns of Upper (left) and Lower (right) Egypt. The sides of the knob have five sets of triangles representing the leaves of the papyrus plant. The bottom has a square hole for mounting. One side of this square is broken off, and it is possible that this area originally had a hole for pegging the knob onto a wooden walking stick. The knob is not made from faience. The chips and broken cross section at the bottom shows that the piece was made with an opaque blue material with infrequent bubbles. The surface is a duller green color, and has isolated patches of iridescence. The cartouche, uraei and papyrus leaf decoration all seem to have been filled in with another material which is now orange in color, though most of it is now missing. | Height: 3.2 | Outside diameter: 3.9 | Measurement unit: Centimeters/Inches | more | less
Parçası Olduğu Curatorial section: Egyptian
Malzeme Glass (uncertain)
Zaman Dilimi New Kingdom,Eighteenth Dynasty
